2024 Week 1 Photo Journal - Photos From Big Bend

Happy New Year! I’m starting the new year off with a new online photography journal. I’ll be posting my images here and writing brief posts about them.

This week’s images are from my family’s trip to Big Bend National Park. This year we were joined by the Green family for our trip across the breadth of the best state in the union.

Big Bend National Park is an amazing place. It is without a doubt the most beautiful and savage place I’ve been thus far. It’s a tough place to do justice, either with words or with images, you just have to visit it yourself.

We traveled to Del Rio, Texas for the first day and then on to Terlingua, Texas the second day. We hiked and explored during the days, returned to the ranch house for dinner and hung out around a campfire under a canopy of stars at night, and then did it all over again the next day.

Among the notable things that occurred on the trip was that I got to shoot engagement photos for a couple who got engaged at the tip of a mountain. Total strangers, but I was in the right place at the right time. Congratulations Jeddin and Mary! I hope you like the pictures.

It was an amazing trip and I’m grateful to have been able to go with people I love. A great way to cap off 2023.
